Mount Miguel is becoming Mount Miguel Early College High School (MMECHS).
This change is built around three key ideas designed to give every student more opportunities, stronger support, and clearer pathways to college and careers.
Early College Opportunities
Through our partnership with the Grossmont–Cuyamaca Community College District, students can earn real college credits while still in high school — exploring majors, building confidence, and getting a head start on their future. College coursework is an opportunity, not a requirement, and counselors will help students and families find the right fit.
Small Student Houses
Every student belongs to a House — a small cohort with a dedicated lead teacher and staff who work closely together. The House model ensures every student is known, supported, and connected throughout high school.
4×4 Block Schedule
Students take four classes per semester instead of six or seven all year. This means more time for deeper learning in each class, less to juggle at once, and more flexibility for college courses, internships, and pathway programs.
